Need something specific?

Our London consultants build bespoke security plans for any site, sector, or requirement.

Know the difference

Door supervisor vs security guard what's the difference?

Both roles require an SIA front-line licence, but they are separate licence categories under the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

Door Supervision Licence

Licensed specifically for licensed premises — bars, clubs, and venues. Trained in conflict management, physical intervention, search procedures, and licensing law. Required by law for any venue serving alcohol after certain hours or operating as a nightclub.

Security Guard Licence

Licensed for general premises guarding — offices, retail, construction, and residential sites. Not trained or licensed to work the door of a licensed venue. DSS supplies both in London, and can deploy a blended team where a venue needs both roles.

Martyn's Law compliance

Door supervision in London and Martyn's Law compliance

The Protection of Premises Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law) requires qualifying venues in London with a capacity of 200 or more to implement a documented security plan, deliver staff security awareness training, and deploy appropriate physical security measures. Licensed venues — bars, clubs, and event spaces — are among the categories most directly affected. DSS door supervisors are trained in counter-terrorism awareness (CT ACT) and can form part of a fully compliant security plan for your London venue. Our consultants provide written security plans that meet all current requirements of the Act.

why choose us

Why Choose us?

Whether you need a single officer on a retail floor or a full security operation across multiple sites, our team has the licences, the training and the experience to get it right. Every officer is briefed to your specific requirements before their first shift.

SIA Approved Contractor Status

We hold full ACS status under reference DESESOSC02, independently assessed across 78 areas of business performance by the Security Industry Authority. This is not a membership or a self-declared standard — it is a formal quality assessment that relatively few UK security companies pass. You can check our status on the SIA register whenever you wish.

98 Per Cent Client Retention

Almost all of our clients choose to stay with us. That is not something we achieved through aggressive account management — it is the result of officers who show up properly, operations that run without drama and account managers who actually respond when something needs sorting. We think that is the least a client should expect, and we work hard to make sure they get it.

Officers Vetted to BS 7858

Every officer we deploy has been screened under BS 7858 before they arrive on your site. That covers five years of employment history, criminal record checks, financial background and personal references. There are no shortcuts in our recruitment process because the people we put in front of your clients and staff are a direct reflection of us.

Available Around the Clock

Our operations team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. If something needs dealing with at two in the morning, there will be someone at Defence Security Solutions to pick up the phone.

Twelve Years of Experience in the Industry

We have been operating since 2015, which means we have spent twelve years learning what works, what does not and what clients actually need from a security company in London. That experience runs through every contract we manage, from a single static post to a large-scale multi-site operation.

A Named Contact for Every Client

Every client has a named account manager who knows their sites, their preferences and their expectations. You will not be handed between departments or left waiting for a callback — your account manager is your consistent point of contact throughout the contract.

Over 900 Trained Officers

With more than 900 trained, SIA-licensed officers across our operations, we have the capacity to respond to requirements of any size — a single post, a team deployment or a rapid response to an urgent request. Scale has never been a problem for us.

Prepared for Martyn’s Law

The Protect Duty — known as Martyn’s Law — will place new legal obligations on venues and events across the UK to have protective security measures in place. Our team is ready to help clients understand what those obligations mean in practice and how to meet them without overcomplicating things.
